When our kids don’t share our nostalgia … mammalingo: I’ve been holding something in, and I have to let it out. I’m a little angry with my children. I took them to see The Muppets a week ago. I loved it. It was true to the original (joy, goofiness, silliness, hope, happiness, love, sunshine, good intentions, quirky celebrity cameos, singing, rainbows and razzle dazzle… did I mention that it was my favorite, favorite show as a kid?) but modernized correctly, nostalgic in all the right places and self-aware (if a movie can be self aware). Yes, I loved it. My kids? Eh. They were more excited about seeing a preview for Chipmunks 3 before the movie started. That hurt. A lot.  But I think it was my fault. I didn’t prep them. They didn’t even really know who The Muppets were until about 10 minutes before the movie started.  Proof? When the movie was over, I asked my kids to name their favorite muppet. My now-four-year-old said, “*The turtle.”  *Kermit the Effing Turtle?
