The eventful weekend

On Saturday, Julia and I visited Kathi and her kids, Maureen, Tony and baby John in northern Virginia. Luckily the snowstorm held off long enough for us to travel there and back. The flakes begin in the late afternoon.

Sunday morning we awoke to 6 inches of beautiful, fluffy white stuff. Julia didn't remember snow, so she was very excited to go outside and play in it, and eat it. I had to drag her in when her mittens were too cold and wet to stay out any more.

On a sad note, however, Ken learned from his mom that his grandfather in Asheville had had a massive stroke on Saturday. He left on Sunday once the roads were cleared to drive down there. Later that day we learned that his grandfather had died. Ken spent a couple of days with his grandmom, mom and aunt and is coming back tonight. We'll be very glad to see him again.
