KISS on the beach
Random childhood memory: For reasons I can't quite explain, when I was about 8 or 9 (thus in the late '70s), my mother bought a KISS beach towel. I can only imagine that it was a combination of price (most likely on sale at Yellow Front or TG&Y) and her general lack of pop culture knowledge. God knows she was not a fan of the heavy metal otherwise, being given more to John Denver and ABBA in those days. I had only the vaguest idea who KISS was and I remember being fascinated by the makeup. We used that towel until it was in rags. Oddly, though, I don't remember being aware of it being cool, or not cool, or out of the ordinary in any way.
I have got to pore through old photo albums to see if there are any photos of us on the beach on that towel.

Naked Lady Party (No, not that kind)
We survived the rest of January, despite snow, the inauguration, more snow, lots of cold, and more snow. Intrepid friends turned out during the biggest storm for my
Naked Lady Party, aka Switch 'n' Bitch. It's not what it sounds like. Suggested by
Catherine, it was also a little going-away party for her, as she prepares for her big life transition pulling up stakes and moving to Vermont. Changes, changes all around.
