No matter what you think of this war, no-one can deny that it means daily death and destruction on all sides. We can only hope and pray that it ends quickly and our troops return to us safely. So amidst the relentless news of battles and bombing, I'm grateful for the signs of spring emerging all around and the warmth in the air. The bulbs have exploded forth in the beds in my front yard � ones I planted last fall, and others that were sleeping there. Fresh shoots are poking forth along the climbing roses. Buds are beginning to form in the azaleas. Cherry blossoms are opening on our tree in the back yard. And the forsythia, one of my favorite spring plants, have burst open at last. I also planted cheerful pansies in the front and in planters along the edge of the patio in back. I look forward to a season of growth and cultivation.

Coming up for air. A beautiful weekend promised the hope of spring and prompted kitchen painting. Then flurries this morning (!). Tulane Alumni Mardi Gras party on the 1st. Drinks with LT and Lisa. More outings around the corner, including the return of the Downtown Ladies Social Club.
