The week of things breaking. A/C unit at work sprung a leak over the weekend, causing flooding at my desk, and the evacuation thereof. On the plus side, my temporary digs are in the former CEO's corner office. Went home Monday due to the wet dog smell produced by soaked carpet. Being at home in the afternoon, got unfortunate domestic urge to make dinner, ran to the grocery store for meat, discovered car A/C not working. Again. (Just got the car back from the garage 10 days ago for compressor replacement, conversion to friendlier type of coolant, refill of coolant -- $600. Ouch.) Sigh. Work still insane, but prospects of insanity lifting on the horizon.

Insane Week #2 at work, interspersed with events on the social calendar. Last night was a double-header: Downtown Ladies Social Club with the ladies at Cafe Citron (mojitos and overly loud music and the first peek at LT's new engagement ring) followed by the Neil Finn concert at the 930 Club. Excellent show, but Neil played over 2 hours and I made the serious error of not paying attention to the time vis a vis the departure of the last Metro train. I caught the last Green line train to Fort Totten, whereupon I discovered at 12:30 a.m. that I'd missed the last Red. And there were no more buses to Silver Spring. I had to take a $10 cab (thank God there was one there waiting). Between that, the drinks and the overpriced brownie and soda ($3 for a diet Coke??) at the club, it was an expensive evening. But worth it.
